Hypnosis Statistics for Anxiety
Here are a couple of studies showing the effectiveness of Hypnotherapy working with Anxiety (diagnosed by a physician, practitioner, or therapist):
Hypnotherapy helps to reduce anxiety: “At the longest follow-up, seven trials yielded a mean weighted effect size of 0.99 (p ≤ .001), demonstrating the average participant treated with hypnosis improved more than about 84% of control participants.”
Translation: There is very strong evidence that Hypnotherapy significantly reduces symptoms of Anxiety, as compared to having no treatment. In addition, it is equally as effective as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in treating Anxiety (but even better when combined with CBT) and works within 4-5 weeks, as opposed to more than a year with CBT.
Subjects from a 2006 study who received hypnotherapy reported their anxiety was cut in half, while those who did not receive hypnosis reported an increase in anxiety.
Translation: Hypnotherapy helped relieve anxiety by 50% for clients in the study, while people who did not use hypnosis had their anxiety increase.
A 2019 meta-analysis of hypnosis: “Of the 20 children with anxiety disorder, 55% had good-to-excellent long-term results, rating a 4 (good) to 5 (excellent) on a scale of 1 to 5. … No parent or child reported any adverse effect.”
Translation: Hypnotherapy reduced Anxiety in children, with more than 50% of them having good or excellent reduction in anxiety, with no side effects. Keep in mind, some of these children were only 2 years old! And hypnosis still worked! Wow!
